Life has been very different for me lately, but in a good way. In June, we welcomed our second child, Kameron. Before Kameron was born, I was working full time as a private therapist. Since Kameron has joined our family, I have been able to stay home much more than when we had our daughter, Kenzie. 3 months after Kenzie was born I was back to working full time in the school system and seeing private students after school. This time I was blessed beyond belief to be able to be home
much more with our growing family. Of course, being a speech language pathologist is my passion, so I can’t completely stop working. Right now I am working about 10 hours a week. The rest of my hours are filled with being a mommy. Here is what a typical day for me looks like….
My day usually starts around 3am with my hungry little guy. He usually lets me get a few more hours of sleep before our day really begins! By 7am both kiddos are up. We usually spend the morning watching TV (usually Bubble Guppies or Sheriff Callie lately) over coffee and breakfast.
By 10am we are usually off to story time at the library, music class, open gym, or running errands. Before leaving the school system, I was always so upset with the fact that I never got to take Kenzie to these activities while I was working. I am definitely making up for lost time now.
We are usually back home by 12:30. This is when we have lunch and a nap. I love naptime. Like, really, really love naptime. It’s my quiet time often when I get some blogging done, create some products for TpT, and lesson plan for my afternoon therapy sessions.
When 2:00pm hits, it’s time to go to work. I usually have to stop by Starbucks for a little pick me up on the way. Some days I even get to bring my little man to work with me! I am very lucky that I work for a great company and for some wonderful, understanding families.
Most days I am back home by 6pm. Here is when the madness begins! I scramble to make dinner before my husband heads off to work (he hosts a night show for a local radio station) Pinterest has been my saving grace for quick and easy dinners for this reason! After that it’s bath time and a little bit of playtime before we read a story and head off to bed! That is if it’s not a dance or soccer night. If all goes well, both bambinos are off to sleep by 8:30. This is where I like to pour a glass of wine and catch up on some reality TV. But lets be honest, most nights, I crash out as soon as the kids do! I love this part time mommy, part time SLP life. I get the best of both worlds doing what I love!
